Comments and What Not to Post!

By 2/25/2013

Let me start off this post by saying welcome to all my new readers, and how much I appreciate you and of course my loyal readers who have been with me for a long while as well! It's really fun reading all your comments and thoughts on each post and getting to know each of you as well.

If you've not noticed I have some notes placed below the box for comments on each post, one part of this is to advice that I will not tolerate rude or hateful comments aimed towards myself or my readers. That's just a given, you don't walk up to people on the street and say something rude or hateful... and if you do then you probably need to relearn the "If you don't have something nice to say don't say anything at all." phrase they used to teach us when we were young.

Anyway that is one reason I've started moderating comments but the second reason is because of spam and also one I've still seen regardless is people adding links at the end of a comment some examples of comments that won't be approved. "Come visit my blog" or "check out my giveaway at", basically don't put a website link on your posts to promote your site.

Now don't get me wrong, I'd love to checkout some sites of my wonderful followers which is why in the coming months I plan to try and do a "Follower Appreciation"week or month.

Anyway this counts for giveaway posts as well, if you leave a link in your comment with your blog giveaway or blog link (unless I've asked you to) then it will be disqualified.

Now that, that is all done I hope you all are having a wonderful start to your week and keep an eye out for my new posts which should include swatches of the Disney Jasmine Collection by Sephora!

  1. don't see why be rude to you, you are friendly

  2. People usually link their blogs in comments on other blogs because it improves their google rating. The more links that direct to their site from other sites will move their site further up the search tool. It's what made google unique when it first came out, it was even first called "BackRub" because it sorted by number of backlinks. This is also called SEO (Search Engine Optimization) That's what makes CommentLuv so awesome, which allows each commenter to enter their blog name for CommentLuv to pull up and link to their most recent blog post.

However, these links still need to be checked for spam because spam links can result in a lower ranking or damage your reputation (google checks for that as well). So I guess it's really up to the blogger and how much comment scanning they want to do. Allowing back links on your blog will probably generate more comments, however, it's unclear if more comments on your blog helps your blog specifically in any meaningful way.

That being said, it's still a dick move to only post "Cool" or "Nice" or "Love this!" JUST to link to your blog and as always, it's completely up to the blogger to decide what is right for their blog.

  3. I am sorry that you have had to deal with rude/unpleasant comments. Blogging is supposed to be fun! It is a positive, fun part of my life, I don't get why people bother being negative and rude. People who do this need to find something to do that they ENJOY doing and stop ruining things that are positive for other people! Also, I agree that it is rude to post COME VISIT MY BLOG in comments, especially since I see that on your blog you have offered people the opportunity for guest posts and so on.

  4. I hate comments with advertise on ladie's pages. It's really embarassing and I think someday someone will find a way to their blog without this theatre. When I see links in comments It always discourage me from visiting their blog.
