Olay - Fresh Effects BB Cream - Review & Swatches

Press Sample

I was the Olay Fresh Effects BB Cream in the Influenster Sunkissed Voxbox recently, since then I have tried it out twice. The thing I have issues with on most foundation type products is that I am extremely, extremely pale and finding a foundation type product that is as pal as I am and doesn't look too dark for my skin tone is REALLY difficult. A little about my skin: I have redness, dryness, dark spots, and irritation spots that sort of look like acne but are not which I get from allergies as of late.

Anyway onto the photos!

My Rating:   5 out of 10 feathers

Cost:   $14.99 for 2.5 fl oz (75 ml) (price may vary depending on store)

Availability:   Most stores that sell cosmetics.

Formula:   I found that this BB cream has a scent to it, one of the scents you might smell from a sunscreen (of course it has SPF so that would be why). I thought maybe it might go away after it's worn for a bit although I found I could still faintly smell it. It's not necessarily a bad thing as it's not terribly strong, just I'm not one for liking scents on my face unless it's some delicious vanilla or sweet smell. I don't know a ton about BB creams, I do know that per the Asian brands they are supposed to be highly pigmented and really cover up a lot, of course with the US brands they seem to be more of a tinted moisturizer then anything else.

The packaging:  It just has the standard packaging nothing really special to report on it besides the fact it's a squeeze tube which I found to be more sanitary then dipping your fingers in something.

My Final Thoughts:  I think this may have Brightened like it stated a little bit, I didn't find that it smoothed out  my skin or got rid of the dark pigmentation spots I had. I do think it helped my redness but I'm guessing that's from the yellowish tones it has in it. Again for me a BB cream should give more coverage then this did, so I would say it's probably worth skipping if you want something that covers imperfections well.

Would I purchase again?  No. For me it's not really something that gave me a hugely noticeable difference on correcting my skin issues. It did help my redness a bit but I found that it didn't really help correct that much considering it's supposed to be a BB cream I don't think it compares to the true way a BB cream should be. Also I found it to be a bit too dark for my skin (as always with companies they don't think of the extremely pale people).

Disclaimer:
I cannot guarantee that all of the make-up and skincare products I recommend will work for you, I only use products I personally think are good having tried them on my skin. Everyone's skin is different and it's possible to be allergic to anything. Wherever possible, test products out on yourself before purchasing.

Have you tried this product? What do you think?

Olay - Fresh Effects BB Cream - First Look

Press Sample

Recently I was sent the Influenster Sunkissed Voxbox, one of the items inside was a full size of the Olay Fresh Effects BB Cream in Fair to Light. I have only tried out one BB cream and that was an asian BB cream from Holika Holika so this is the first one I have tried from the US. I will have a review and swatches including a before and after photo of how it looks, my skin is very pale with dark circles, pigmentation, and redness.

Anyway onto the photos!

Have you tried this out? What are you thoughts?

Nyx Cosmetics - Be Free Palette - First Look - Limited Edition

I Bought This

I'm not 100% sure when this palette came out, I was at my local Ulta store a few weeks back and saw it on a display at the end of an aisle and didn't end up getting it. Last week I went back and decided to try and pick it up because I hadn't realized before that it was a limited edition palette. Anyway I looked everywhere and didn't see it, I ended up asking one of the girl there if they still had it and they checked the back and managed to find me one!

I'll try to post a review and swatches in a week or so (takes a long time swatch a palette this large) I am pretty sure it can still be purchased places like eBay, which is the only reason I'm still going to try and swatch it.

Anyway onto the photos!

Do you own this palette? What are your thoughts?

Sleek Makeup - i-Divine Candy Eyeshadow Palette - Review & Swatches - Limited Edition

Recently Sleek Makeup released their new i-Divine Candy Collection, I ended up picking up the full collection which consists of an eyeshadow palette, blush trio, and a lip paint. This collection is limited edition as well so if you decide you want to get it ensure you do it before they run out!

Anyway onto the photos!

(note: swatched over UDPP and taken in direct sunlight)
Strawberry Sherbert, Bon Bon, Parma Violet, Apple Sour, Pear Drop, Flump
Liquorice, Blue Fizzle, Aniseed, Bubble Gum, Mint Cream, Cream Soda

My Rating:   10 out of 10 feathers

Cost:   $9.99 for 12 x 1.1 g

Availability:   www.sleekmakeup.com

Formula:   I'm really impressed with the formula on these shadows especially since this a drugstore brand, all the shadows are really pigmented and have a really smooth texture. There seems to be shimmer shadows but also some more matte ones as well so it makes it a nice combo. I didn't find any of these shadows to be powdery which can sometimes be a problem with drugstore brands.

The packaging:  I like the packaging that Sleek Makeup uses as it's well... sleek! It's nothing super fancy and it's thin and light weight so it would be very easy to carry with you if you were traveling.

My Final Thoughts:  I really love this palette! All the shades are pretty (although Liquorice is obviously just a standard matte black and not anything particularly special), and they go on very pigmented very easily without any effort. Some of the gorgeous and more unique shades are Blue Fizzle and Aniseed. Blue Fizzle kind of is a denim blue with almost a purple hint to it when the light hits it just right, and Aniseed is a red with kind of a pinkish peach hint to it.

Would I purchase again?  Yes! I would definitely purchase this palette again, of course it's limited edition so I would suggest if you fancy it to pick it up straight away! I actually had picked up an extra just in case I loved it and of course since I'm in the US and had to pay international shipping cost I figured what the heck and got a backup. I was also extremely impressed with the shipping time, I ordered it on 06/20/13 and received it on 06/25/13 which is incredibly fast for shipping international!

Milani Cosmetics - Ultrafine Liquid Eyeliners - Review & Swatches

Press Sample

A little while back Milani Cosmetics released their new Ultrafine Liquid Eyeliners in 5 different shades, I was sent them to try out. The sites states they are a sparkling, intense color, waterproof formula, that is easy to apply and dries to down a sparkling finish.

Anyway onto the photos!

01-Black Vinyl, 02-Black Gems, 04-Prismatic Purple, 05-Sparlking Turquoise, 06-Emerald Glisten

My Rating:   8.5 out of 10 feathers

Cost:   $7.49 ea for Net Weight: 0.0058 fluid ounces / 1.7 milliliters

Availability:   www.milanicosmetics.com

Formula:   The pigmentation and smoothness on these is really great, I'm not an expert on liquid liners as sometimes they can be difficult to work with but I love the fact they have some bright colors in there as well. For the waterproof factor, I found Black Vinyl, Black Gems, and Prismatic Purple to be very waterproof even after they got wet and wiping over them lightly with a cloth. Sparkling Turquoise and Emerald Glisten stayed on through getting wet with very slight fading/smearing and after wiping they came away more (although they would still be worth owning due to it wasn't that bad with getting wet and the colors are gorgeous).

The packaging:  Standard packaging so nothing really special to say about it, nothing bulky though and these would be easy to take in a purse (or a pocket if you're not carry a purse).

My Final Thoughts:  I love the shades they offer, I found Black Gems to be really unique and gorgeous as in the sunlight and flash it glistens with multicolor sparkles. These definitely are something I would have picked up if I saw them in the store!

Would I purchase these?   Yes, if I saw these in a store and did not already own them I would definitely purchase them, for the price they are really nice and considering it's a drugstore brand these are really pigmented. They kind of remind me of the  Urban Decay waterproof liquid eyeliners, not quite up to that standard but definitely worth it if you don't want to spend the $19 that UD's are. I do prefer the UD liner brush more then the felt tip, but then again that's just a personal preference as I love brushes more then felt tips.

Have you purchased any of these? What's your favorite color(s)?
